Welcome to our website! I will be listing skills we are working on, homework assignments, reminders, and notifications on this website.
Welcome back from Spring break! This starts our push to the end of the quarter. The quarter ends on Friday, April 13. I encourage both you and your student to monitor grades so that there are no surprises. This quarter, parents will come to the school to pick up report cards. Fourth grade parents will meet with Ms. Mueller and fifth grade parents will meet with me this quarter. Please look for a preference sheet to come home this week.
PARCC testing continues this week. We should finish on Wednesday. Congratulations to our chess champions! They did a great job representing Lenart. Congratulations to the 4th and 5th grade students who are advancing to city competition for Invention Convention on April 7. 4th grade: Mia Hseu and Hana Kim, Asim Washington, Nyah Sydnor, Nadia Williams, and Sophia Galllardo. 5th grade: Sophia Hall and Sofia Daley and Imogen James-Downie Spring pictures/yearbook pictures will be taken on Friday, March 23. Envelopes were distributed for spring pictures. Let me know if you need another form. If your child is part of a club, they will most likely need the "uniform" for that club for their yearbook picture.
Next week is spring break. There will be no school from March 26 to March 30. School will resume on April 2. Enjoy!
PARCC testing will take place this week and next week. Please ensure that your child has a good night's rest, breakfast, and an encouraging word from you each day. Please see the schedule here.
Due to PARCC testing, there will be no homework assigned (including MathXL) for the testing window.
Please encourage your child to check their grades on gradebook routinely. If students do not complete a homework assignment, they receive a homework letter to be taken home, signed, and returned. They have three days to complete and submit the missing homework attached to the homework letter for a reduced grade. In many instances, neither the missing work nor the homework letter is returned. Please verify homework assignments via the homework page on the teachers' websites. Let's finish this year off strong!
This week is Spirit Week. Each day, students are welcomed to dress up to show their spirit. Monday: Pajama day Tuesday: Character day Wednesday: Retro day Thursday: Crazy hair/Crazy hat day Friday: Class color day (4th grade color is red.) Students may choose to opt out of any day.
For those students who are participating in Invention Convention, class presentations will take place the week of March 5 through March 9. Please see me to sign up for a slot to present.
Just a couple reminders. If your child has not turned in their walk-a-thon permission slip, please do so asap! I have additional forms if needed. Walk-a-thon will take place this Friday at 1 pm. October is Hispanic Heritage Month. Ms. Torres has asked that I share information about some activities she is doing with the students this month. I have attached it here for you. Ms. Torres note
Just a reminder that students have a MathXL assignment that is due Monday at 8 am. MathXL is assigned weekly. MathXL assignments are part of the Skills Practice part of the students' grade. Students will be locked out of the assignment at 8 am on Mondays. Until 8 am , students can redo any questions that they got wrong. Just click on the question and then a similar question and the incorrect answer will be replaced by the answer for the similar question.
Time is flying by so quickly. One of these days I know we will have fall weather....... but as the weather continues to fluctuate, please have your child dress in layers. It may be chilly in the morning but by noon, it can be 80 degrees.
Just a clarification: MathXL assignments are assigned weekly (assigned Monday and due by 8 am the following Monday). These assignments cover material that we have been/are working on in our math class. For Khan Academy, I assigned numerous lessons. Students are to choose 3 lessons from those I assigned and complete them each week. This may change at a later date but until October 20, this is the policy to follow. Progress reports will be sent home this week. Today I asked all students to log in and preview their grades. They were given time to redo work and resubmit it to me. They were also given time to have an individual conference with me. Many students took advantage of this opportunity and are now caught up with their work.
Welcome to the new school year. This week will be full of getting to know each other, practicing routines and procedures, and brainstorming what we each need to have a successful year. We will stay in homeroom again tomorrow and then begin our switching routine on Thursday. Thank you for all of the donated supplies. Your donations help so much in this era of uncertain budgeting situations.
Just some reminders: Please submit your student fee payments and all forms that were sent home today. Our special classes' schedule is as follows:
Monday: PE Tuesday: Music and STEM Wednesday: Spanish Thursday: PE Friday: Spanish
Recess is at 10:35 to 11:00 and lunch is from 11:00 to 11:20.
Please feel free to reach out with questions/concerns. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Week two already! I hope everyone is getting back in the routine of school. Its been hard for me...... We will be working with Khan Academy again this year. I have set up accounts for all students. If your child has their own account, they may use their account. I ask that you add them to the class so that I can check their progress. The class code for 4th grade is: 9MRGCK and the class code for 5th grade is: WGB6VC. I will be using Khan Academy a little differently this year. Students will still be able to choose their own topics but I will also be assigning assignments for them to complete. On their homepage, the assignments and due dates should be visible. Please let me know if they are not visible. I have given assignments to both classes. Please send in all forms and student fees as soon as possible.
